Young people taking initiative, a country moving forward
Youth Day is often an occasion for speeches and assessments. But beyond the symbols, it primarily invites us to observe what young people are already doing, concretely, to carve out a place for themselves and create value in a demanding environment. In Cameroon, a generation is gradually asserting itself through action, choosing to initiate useful projects rooted in local realities and geared towards sustainable solutions.
In a context marked by the scarcity of formal employment opportunities and the rapid evolution of economic models, entrepreneurship is gradually emerging as a preferred platform for young people to express their commitment, responsibility, and creativity. It is no longer simply a matter of creating a business, but of developing solutions tailored to local realities, reconciling innovation, social utility, and economic viability.
This dynamic is manifested through exemplary projects. Arthur Zang, a Cameroonian engineer, is the creator of Cardiopad, a medical device that enables remote cardiological examinations. By bringing medical expertise closer to patients located outside major urban centers, this innovation helps improve access to specialized care and illustrates the potential of technological solutions designed based on local needs.
In a different vein, Cyril Nguemtchouin , founder of Studely , developed a support platform for African students wishing to pursue their studies abroad. By providing concrete solutions to the challenges of guidance, financing, and securing academic pathways, his initiative has led to the structuring of a service that is now recognized internationally.
These examples remind us that entrepreneurship, when approached methodically and responsibly, can become a driver of lasting transformation. It demands rigor, perseverance, and adaptability, but also offers young people the opportunity to actively contribute to the country's economic and social development.
At a time when Cameroon is celebrating its youth, it seems essential to value these approaches and encourage young people to consider entrepreneurship as a space for engagement, creation and impact in service of the collective.
Happy Youth Day to all
